Golden Badger Claw. Collage. Mixed Media.

My name is Vanessa Vargas and my artist alias is "Golden Badger Claw". I am a self-taught analog collage and mixed media artist from Los Angeles exploring my artistic approach through the use of light, color, texture, layering, and 3D. I blend precision cutting and loose paper tearing techniques to build layers of texture elevating from and extending off my chosen canvas. All these elements fused together along with mixed media of found or repurposed objects enhance and create fluid movements throughout each piece.

My aesthetic often delves into the female essence and female body in all its attributes of beauty, spirituality, strength, sexuality and humor. I am heavily inspired by introspection through my personal struggles and experiences.  Often times the collage medium has allowed me to channel a response and healing.

Music fuels my creative sessions to escape to retro sci-fi and surrealistic themes. It's influences have brought amazing opportunities to work with talented music producers on their record sleeves and cover art.
